Education and training

The Competition Law Research Centre is mostly operating within the Pázmány Péter Catholic University, Faculty of Law and Political Sciences. Based on the experience in teaching competition law for more than 15 years, the Competition Law Research Centre and its members provide education and training on three levels:

  1. On graduate level we provide courses for lawyers and in BA and MA programmes. Uniquely in Hungary and in Europe all graduate student of law have to visit competition law lectures for a year as a mandatory subject.
  2. On postgraduate level we teach competition law as part of postgraduate diploma programmes and we also participate in the PhD programme.
    1. The postgraduate course is unique in Hungary. The three semester long programme is covering all aspects of competition law.     2. The Competition Law Research Centre and its library are ideal for the doctoral programme.

In addition to the graduate and postgraduate programmes we also provide several specialised training courses at the Competition Law Research Centre, among which the most important ones are:

  1. The Competition Law Research Centre (PPKE JÁK) won at the European Commission's call for proposal for training of national judges, as a result of which we provide training for judges from several CEE countries.
  2. With the State Aid Monitoring Office of the Ministry of National Development we provide 4-8 times training in state aid law, mostly for officials working in the public administration.
  3. As part of the Jean Monnet programme of the European Commission we provide training annualy in 10 hours about the recent developments of competition law and policy.
